ABOUT OUR FOUNDERS
Matthew Lee
Matthew Lee was born in Ladysmith South Africa, on the 30th August 1990, to parents Richard and Anne Lee. He spent the next 18 years of his life being raised in Ladysmith.
Throughout his youth, Matthew was a very inquisitive child, always asking why and how, in order to grasp a deeper understanding of the world around him. During his schooling years, he participated in numerous extramural activities, whereby he acquired a diversity of experience and skills. Matthew has always been an outside of the box thinker, with a vivid imagination and a passion for making things…
In Matthew’s younger years, his family attended church in the All Saints Anglican Church in Ladysmith. However, after his mother’s miraculous healing in 2002, the entire family turned their lives towards Jesus and began attending the only Pentecostal church in Ladysmith at the time, River of Life. Although his family enjoyed their new found faith in Christ, Matthew didn’t share the same enthusiasm. Consequently, in his later teen years he chose to turn his back on Christianity and resorted to atheism for several years…
Matthew matriculated from Ladysmith High School in 2008, and in 2009 he moved to Pretoria South Africa to begin his studies in photography at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). In 2013 he graduated from TUT with his post graduate degree in photography, having written a thesis on commercial advertising photography. Matthew has always had a keen interest in technology, and has advanced his skills to include graphics design, website design, video productions and working on computers.
In 2014 Matthew began lecturing photography at a private college. It was during this year that he gave his heart to the Lord in River Church Pretoria. During the course of 2014 he came to realize that he had a call to ministry on his life, and consequently enrolled in his first year of Bible college at the CFCI Bible College in 2015.
During his first and second years of Bible College, Matthew attended and served diligently in River Church Pretoria, where he was promoted to the voluntary position of evangelism/outreach leader. It was during his time in this position that he began his YouTube channel Evangelist Matthew Lee. However after completing his second year of Bible college, the Lord revealed to him that his season at River Church had come to an end, and that it was time to move to attend church at CFCI full time…
After moving churches, it just made sense that Matthew should move too, and consequently he moved to Boksburg South Africa at the beginning of 2017 – just in time to begin his 3rd year of Bible College.
During the course of 2017, whilst working on his business plan for Bible college, Matthew founded Christ’s Heartbeat Ministries International and Transformed Youth. In 2017 Project Cornerstone Welfare came under the ministry covering of CHMI. The same year Evangelist Matthew Lee Ministries grew from being only a YouTube channel into a ministry that included Soul Winning Workshops, crusades and ministering at various church services and events…
Matthew completed his 3rd year of study at CFCI Bible College at the end of 2017, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Practical Ministry. At the beginning of 2018 he officially registered and began running CHMI on a full-time basis.

Monique Lee
Monique Rene Viviers was born in Krugersdorp South Africa, on the 15th February 1989, to parents Charles and Stella Viviers. She spent the next 26 years of her life being raised in her parents home in Krugersdorp.
Throughout her youth, Monique was always known by others to be someone loving and caring, a true friend who would always be there when you need her. During her schooling years, she excelled in her academics, matriculating with 10 A’s. Monique has always been a high achiever and is a very driven and passionate individual.
In Monique’s younger years, she practically grew up in the various Pentecostal churches that her parents served in, and consequently has been a follower of Christ her entire life.
Monique matriculated from Hoërskool Bastion in 2007 and began her studies in Civil Engineering at the University of Johannesburg in 2008. Through helping her father with various handy work around the house and in his workshop, Monique developed an interest in building and creating things that’ll make a difference in people’s lives.
In 2013 Monique began working for one of South Africa’s well known railway organizations, where she climbed the corporate ladder. She still works there to this day.
Although she has been a Christian her whole life, during the course of 2015 Monique made the decision to fully commit her heart to the Lord. After moving to Boksburg, from her parent’s home in Krugersdrorp, she began attending church at Christian Family Church Johannesburg in September 2015. Consequently in 2016 she enrolled in her first year of Bible college at the CFCI Bible College.
During her first year at Bible College she began serving as a cell group intern within the church, and in 2017 she was given her own cell group to lead, where she encourages and helps her cell members to develop in Christ.
Monique is strongly gifted in the pastoral and the prophetic, and she has a deep compassion for others. She truly has the heart of the Father, and although she has only just begun to step into the various aspects of ministry, she is already excelling in all that she does!
Watch this space to see what God has been doing in and through her life, and in CHMI and our daughter ministries…
Mr & MRS LEE
Matthew and Monique met for the first time on the CFCI Bible College camp in July 2016. At the time, Matthew was in his second year of studies and Monique was in her first…
Matthew was instantly attracted to Monique, although Monique’s first impression of Matthew was that he’s a little strange (no surprise there). However they both hit it off straight away and started spending time together at church and Bible college events, during which time a close friendship developed between the two of them.
After a few months of friendship and romantic pursuit from Matthew, Monique finally agreed to start dating Matthew on the 12th of December 2016. It wasn’t long after beginning to date that the couple began having conversations about the future and about marriage…
In September 2017 Matthew finally plucked up the courage and proposed to Monique, in a manner that was special to both of them. After taking Holy Communion among themselves, Matthew asked Monique to read a portion out of Proverbs 31, where he had secretly placed the ring… And of course, when she saw it she said yes!
After a little backwards and forwards with the wedding preparations, a date was finally set, and the couple got married in Ladysmith on the 14th of July 2018. After returning from honeymoon they moved into their new home in Impala-park, Boksburg, so that they are still nice and close to church and to the CHMI offices…
During the course of their relationship, Matthew and Monique have engaged in a large variety of ministry activities together. Whilst Matthew usually takes to the stage, Monique prefers supporting her husband and helping out behind the scenes wherever she can.
This is just the beginning of the journey of what God has planned for this dynamic couple! So watch this space, because “… he will preach and she will prophesy…”
